Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound boneless ground meat (beef, lamb, or combination)
  • 1/2 cup chana dal split chickpeas, soaked and drained
  • 1 medium onion finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp grated ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1/4 cup chopped mint leaves
  • 1 egg beaten
  • Oil for frying

Instructions
 

  • Mix all ingredients in a bowl: meat, lentils, spices, herbs, and onion.
  • Add the beaten egg and mix until fully incorporated.
  • Shape into 2–3 inch round patties.
  • Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
  • Fry patties 3–4 minutes on each side until golden and cooked through.
  • Serve hot with chutney or yogurt dip.

Notes

  • Soak chana dal for at least 30 minutes for soft texture.
  • Add chili powder for extra heat.
  • Chill shaped patties for 20 minutes before frying to prevent breakage.
