- 4 cups(512g) unbleached all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons kosher salt
- ¼ cup(55g) sugar
- 2½ teaspoons instant yeast
- 1½ cups 2% or whole milk lukewarm
- ½ cup boiling water
- 5 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 egg yolk beaten
- 1 cup(150g) dark chocolate chips
- ½ cup(75g) chopped walnuts (optional)
- Pearl sugar and icing sugar for decoration
Combine dry and wet ingredients, knead the dough until smooth.
Add chocolate chips and optional nuts. Let the dough rise until doubled.
Shape the dough, place it in molds, and allow it to rise again.
Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 40–50 minutes.
Cool completely and dust with icing sugar.
