Ingredients

  • 1 package 12 count Hawaiian rolls or other soft dinner rolls
  • 1 lb thinly sliced beef steak ribeye or sirloin
  • 1 large yellow onion thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 8 slices provolone cheese or Cheez Whiz, for a classic twist
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter melted
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley optional

Instructions

  • Prepare the Filling: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced onions and bell peppers and cook for 5-7 minutes, until they are soft and beginning to caramelize. Add the thinly sliced beef to the skillet, season with salt and pepper, and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring to break up the meat.
  • Assemble the Sliders: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Leave the Hawaiian rolls connected and slice the entire slab of rolls in half horizontally. Place the bottom half of the rolls in a baking dish.
  • Layer the Ingredients: Layer the provolone cheese slices evenly over the bottom rolls. Top the cheese with the cooked beef, onion, and bell pepper mixture, spreading it out evenly.
  • Top and Bake: Place the top half of the rolls over the filling. In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, minced garlic, and optional chopped parsley. Brush this mixture generously over the top of the rolls.
  • Bake the Sliders: Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 15 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 5 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the cheese is completely melted.
  • Serve: Let the philly cheesesteak sliders cool for a few minutes before slicing them into individual sliders. Serve warm.

Notes

For a classic Philadelphia taste, use Cheez Whiz instead of provolone cheese.
