1green onionthinly sliced, for garnish
1tspsesame seedsfor garnish
Instructions
Combine Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, grated Asian pear (or apple), and water or vegetable broth until the sugar is dissolved.
Add Aromatics and Seasoning: Stir in the toasted sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and black pepper. Whisk all the ingredients until they are thoroughly combined.
Marinate or Simmer: The korean bbq sauce can be used in two ways. To use it as a marinade, pour the sauce over your meat (sliced beef, chicken, or short ribs) in a resealable bag or a dish. Marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 24 hours for a deeper flavor.
For a Thicker Sauce: If you want a thicker sauce to use for basting or as a finishing glaze, transfer the mixture to a small saucepan. Bring the sauce to a low simmer over medium heat and cook for 5-10 minutes, or until it has reduced and thickened slightly.
Serve: This delicious korean bbq sauce is ready to be used. Brush it on your favorite grilled meats or use it to flavor stir-fries. Garnish with sliced green onion and sesame seeds.
Notes
For best results, use this sauce as a marinade for thinly sliced beef.
