For the Dough:
- 1 1/2 cups warm milk 105°F
- 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1 cup cold unsalted butter cubed
- 1 egg yolk beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1-2 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit 5 minutes until frothy.
Add flour, salt, and cubed butter. Mix until shaggy dough forms.
Knead on a floured surface for 10 minutes.
Place dough in greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
Punch down, then roll out to 1/4-inch thickness.
Cut donuts using a donut cutter.
Let rise again for 30 minutes.
Heat oil to 350°F.
Fry donuts 2–3 minutes each side until golden.
Drain on paper towels.
Glaze while warm with preferred topping.
