Instructions
Prepare the Cinnamon Sugar: In a shallow dish or a wide plate, mix the 1/2 cup of granulated sugar with 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon. Set this aside.
Make the French Toast Batter: In another shallow dish, whisk together the eggs, milk, 2 tablespoons of sugar, vanilla extract, and 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon until well combined.
Soak the Bread: Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for about 15-20 seconds per side. The bread should be fully saturated but not so soggy that it falls apart.
Cook the French Toast: Melt the butter or heat the oil in a large skillet or griddle over medium heat. Place the soaked bread slices in the hot pan and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
Coat the Toast: Immediately after removing each slice from the pan, place it into the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Gently press the toast into the mixture to coat both sides evenly. This step must be done while the toast is still hot, as the residual heat helps the cinnamon-sugar adhere.
Serve: Arrange the churro french toast on a plate. Drizzle with melted butter, syrup, or your favorite sauce. Serve immediately while warm. For a truly decadent experience, slice the toast into sticks and serve with a dipping sauce.
Notes
For an extra crispy crust, you can use a bit more butter when cooking the toast.
